Think of your brain as having different departments, each with their own special job. The cerebrum is the big boss - it's the largest part containing about 75% of your brain's neurons and handles all your thinking, memory, and decision-making.

The cerebellum might be smaller, but it's your body's balance expert. Without it, you'd struggle to walk in a straight line or catch a ball. It's all about muscle coordination and balance.

The medulla oblongata keeps you alive without you even thinking about it. This vital region controls your respiratory system - basically, it makes sure you keep breathing even when you're asleep.

Your hypothalamus and pituitary gland work as a team to control hormones throughout your body. The hypothalamus acts like a thermostat, whilst the pituitary releases hormones that affect everything from growth to stress responses.

Quick Tip: Remember "MOM" - Medulla keeps you alive, Oblongata = breathing, Muscles need the cerebellum!

The spinal cord serves as the main highway connecting your brain to the rest of your body. All those electrical impulses travelling between your brain and limbs use this crucial pathway. Don't forget the meninges - these protective membranes wrap around your brain like a safety helmet (when they get infected, that's meningitis).
