Alcohol Production by Yeast Experiment

This brilliant experiment lets you watch anaerobic respiration happen right before your eyes. You'll create the perfect conditions for yeast to ferment glucose and produce alcohol - just like in real breweries!

Start by preparing your glucose solution and boiling it to kill any unwanted microorganisms. Once it cools down, add your dried yeast - this is where the magic begins. The yeast will start breaking down the glucose immediately.

Setting up your apparatus is crucial for success. Cover the liquid with oil to create oxygen-free conditions (anaerobic), then connect your airlock filled with limewater. The whole setup goes into a 30°C water bath - this temperature is perfect for yeast activity.

You'll know it's working when you see carbon dioxide bubbles forming in the limewater. This proves fermentation is happening! Don't forget your control experiment using the same setup but without yeast - this proves the yeast is actually causing the reaction.

Top Tip: The oil layer is essential because it prevents oxygen from getting in. Without oxygen, yeast switches to anaerobic respiration, producing the alcohol and CO₂ you're looking for!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
