Understanding Ecology

Understanding Habitats and Niches
Ever wondered why you find polar bears in the Arctic but not in your back garden? That's because every organism has a specific habitat - basically their home address where they're perfectly adapted to survive.
But living somewhere is only half the story. Each organism also has a niche, which is like their job description in the ecosystem. It's not just about where they live, but what they actually do there - what they eat, when they're active, how they reproduce, and their role in the food chain.
Think of it this way: if the habitat is the address, the niche is the lifestyle. A robin's habitat might be your local park, but its niche includes eating worms, building nests in trees, and being active during the day.
Quick Tip: Remember that multiple species can share the same habitat, but no two species can have exactly the same niche - there's not room for two organisms doing exactly the same job!
Abiotic Factors: The Non-Living Influences
Your environment isn't just shaped by other living things - the abiotic factors play a massive role too. These are the background conditions that can make or break an ecosystem.
Temperature and light intensity are probably the most obvious ones you'll notice. Ever seen how plants grow differently in sunny versus shady spots? Other crucial factors include pH levels, humidity, air speed, and water currents in aquatic environments.
Don't forget the chemical side either - things like dissolved oxygen, salinity, and essential plant nutrients like nitrates and phosphates all determine which organisms can thrive in a particular spot. These factors work together to create the perfect recipe for specific communities of life.

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.
This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.
Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
