Osnove velike in male začetnice
Velika začetnica pomeni veliko črko (A, B, C), mala začetnica pa malo črko (a, b, c). Uporabljamo ju za različne namene in to ni naključno - imamo jasna pravila, ki jih moraš poznati.
Ključno je razumeti razliko med lastnimi in občnimi imeni. Lastno ime pripada samo eni konkretni osebi, kraju ali stvari (Ana, Ljubljana). Občno ime pa označuje celotno vrsto stvari (deklica, mesto).
Zapomni si: Lastna imena so edinstvena kot ti - zato jih pišemo z veliko začetnico!
Prva osnova je preprosta: vsako poved vedno začnemo z veliko začetnico. Ne glede na to, ali je kratka ali dolga, ali je trdilna, vprašalna ali velelna.
Lastna imena - imena bitij in krajev
Imena ljudi in živali pišemo vedno z veliko začetnico. To velja za imena, priimke in tudi imenske kombinacije (Ana Novak, France Prešeren). Pozoren bodi pri imenih prebivalcev - Slovenec, Mariborčan se pišejo z veliko, ime jezika slovenščina pa z malo!
Zemljepisna imena so velika kategorija lastnih imen. Vključujejo mesta (Ljubljana, Koper), države (Slovenija, Hrvaška), reke (Sava, Drava), gore (Triglav, Pohorje) in celine (Evropa, Azija).
Pri večbesednih imenih velja posebno pravilo: z veliko pišemo prvo besedo in vse besede, ki so že same lastno ime. Primeri: Novo mesto (mesto je občna beseda), Kranjska Gora (Gora je lastno ime), Jadransko morje (morje je občna beseda).
Pasti za teste: Učitelji pogosto preverijo razliko med "Ljubljančan govori slovenščino" - prvo z veliko, drugo z malo!
Stvarna lastna imena in vaja
Ustanove, šole in podjetja pišemo z veliko začetnico (Osnovna šola Franceta Prešerna, Mercator, Pošta Slovenije). Enako velja za naslove knjig, filmov in pesmi (Kekec, Moj dežnik je lahko balon).
Pri praznikih velja posebno pravilo: državne praznike pišemo z veliko (Prešernov dan, dan upora proti okupatorju), verske praznike pa z malo (božič, velika noč, pust).
Poskusimo popraviti poved: "moj prijatelj žan se je preselil v novo mesto." Pravilno: "Moj prijatelj Žan se je preselil v Novo mesto." Začetek povedi, ime osebe in ime mesta - vse z veliko začetnico.
Hitro pravilo: Če se spomniš imena konkretne osebe, kraja ali stvari, je verjetno lastno ime in ga pišeš z veliko!
Posebnosti in izjeme
Nekatera imena pišemo vedno z malo začetnico, čeprav se morda zdi drugače. Dnevi v tednu (ponedeljek, sreda, petek), meseci (januar, april, december) in letni časi (pomlad, poletje, jesen, zima) so občna imena.
Imena jezikov se pišejo z malo (slovenščina, angleščina, nemščina), čeprav imena narodov z veliko (Slovenec, Anglež, Nemec). To je pogosta napaka pri testih!
Pri večbesednih zemljepisnih imenih preveri vsako besedo posebej. Škofja Loka - obe besedi sta lastni imeni, zato obe z veliko. Blejsko jezero - samo Blejsko je lastno ime, jezero pa občno.
Za test zapomni: Prebivalec je z veliko, jezik pa z malo - "Slovenec govori slovenščino"!
Hiter povzetek za uspešno pisanje
Z VELIKO začetnico pišemo: začetek vsake povedi, imena in priimke ljudi, imena prebivalcev, geografska imena (države, mesta, reke, gore), naslove del, imena ustanov in državne praznike.
Z MALO začetnico pišemo: občne besede sredi povedi, imena jezikov, dneve v tednu, mesece, letne čase in verske praznike.
Ko dvomiš, se vprašaj: "Ali gre za nekaj edinstveno?" Če je odgovor da, je verjetno lastno ime z veliko začetnico. Ta pravila boš kmalu obvladal avtomatsko s prakso!
Končni nasvet: Pri pisanju spisov in testov si vedno preveri prva pravila - začetek povedi in lastna imena. Tu se dogaja največ napak!
