Understanding Cells: The Building Blocks of Life

Cells are the basic units of life that carry out all the chemical reactions needed to keep organisms alive. Think of them as tiny factories working 24/7 inside every living thing you can imagine.

Living things can be organised in two main ways. Unicellular organisms are made of just one cell – like bacteria, yeast, and amoeba that you might find in pond water. These single cells do everything needed to survive on their own.

Multicellular organisms like plants, animals, and humans are made of many different types of cells working together. Each cell has its own special job, just like different workers in a factory have different roles.

Quick Fact: Your body contains about 37 trillion cells – that's more cells than there are stars in our galaxy!

When cells of the same type join together, they form tissues. For example, nervous tissue is made up of nerve cells that carry messages around your body. Organs are formed when different tissues work together for a specific job – like your heart pumping blood or your stomach digesting food.

Multiple organs can team up to create organ systems. The digestive system includes your mouth, oesophagus, stomach, and intestines all working together to process food. Plants have systems too – their shoot system includes stems, leaves, buds, and flowers.

All cells share the same basic parts: the cell membrane (which controls what goes in and out), cytoplasm thejellylikesubstanceinsidethe jelly-like substance inside, and the nucleus (the control centre). Plant cells are special because they also have a cell wall for extra support and chloroplasts for photosynthesis – that's how they make their own food from sunlight!

The app is very easy to use and well designed. I have found everything I was looking for so far and have been able to learn a lot from the presentations! I will definitely use the app for a class assignment! And of course it also helps a lot as an inspiration.

This app is really great. There are so many study notes and help [...]. My problem subject is French, for example, and the app has so many options for help. Thanks to this app, I have improved my French. I would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, I am really amazed. I just tried the app because I've seen it advertised many times and was absolutely stunned. This app is THE HELP you want for school and above all, it offers so many things, such as workouts and fact sheets, which have been VERY helpful to me personally.
