フランス革命の始まり
君たちが知ってる民主主義って、実はここから始まったんだ。フランス革命前のフランスは、たった2%の特権階級が98%の一般市民を支配する超格差社会だった。
アンシャン=レジーム（旧制度）では、第一身分（聖職者）と第二身分（貴族）は税金を払わなくていいのに、第三身分（平民）だけが重い税金を背負わされていた。しかも国王ルイ16世の贅沢とアメリカ独立戦争への援助で、国の財政は破綻寸前。
1789年7月14日、ついにパリ市民が爆発した。バスティーユ牢獄を襲撃したこの日が、フランス革命の始まりだ。今でもフランスの革命記念日として祝われてるよ。

革命の理念と人権宣言
革命で最も重要なのは人権宣言の発表だ。これは現代の憲法の原型ともいえる画期的な文書で、自由・平等・国民主権・私有財産の不可侵といった近代社会の基本ルールを初めて明文化した。
でも革命は順調じゃなかった。国王ルイ16世が国外逃亡を試みて失敗すると、国民の怒りは頂点に達する。1792年に王政が廃止され、翌年には国王がギロチンで処刑された。
その後、ロベスピエール率いるジャコバン派が権力を握り、革命に反対する人々を次々と処刑する恐怖政治を始める。しかしあまりの厳しさに国民も嫌気がさし、最終的にロベスピエール自身も処刑されてしまった。

ナポレオンの登場と功績
革命後の混乱したフランスを救ったのが、天才軍人ナポレオン・ボナパルトだった。1799年にクーデターで政権を奪取し、1804年には国民投票で支持を得て皇帝ナポレオン1世になる。
ナポレオンの最大の功績はナポレオン法典（フランス民法典）の制定だ。これは革命で生まれた「法の下の平等」や「私有財産の保障」などを具体的な法律としてまとめたもので、後に世界各国の法律の手本となった。
国内では経済を安定させ、軍事面では優れた戦術でヨーロッパ大陸のほとんどを征服した。イギリス以外のヨーロッパはナポレオンの支配下に入り、各地に革命の理念が広まっていく。

ナポレオンの没落と革命の影響
でもナポレオンの栄光は永続きしなかった。1812年のロシア遠征の失敗をきっかけに勢いが衰え、1815年のワーテルローの戦いで完全に敗北。セントヘレナ島に流刑となって生涯を終えた。
ナポレオンの支配は良い面と悪い面の両方をもたらした。良い面では、征服した地域に啓蒙思想や革命の理念、ナポレオン法典が広まり、ヨーロッパ各地の近代化が進んだ。
悪い面では、フランスの支配に対する反発から各国でナショナリズム（国民意識）が高まり、激しい抵抗運動が起こった。これが後の独立運動や統一運動につながっていく。

I think it’s very much worth it and you’ll end up using it a lot once you get the hang of it and even after looking at others notes you can still ask your Artificial intelligence buddy the question and ask to simplify it if you still don’t get it!!!
