明を征服したいという野心と、国内にもう与える土地がなくなったことが出兵の理由。でも朝鮮の民衆の激しい抵抗や、李舜臣が率いる水軍の活躍で日本軍は苦戦を強いられた。
結局、1598年に秀吉が病死すると日本軍は撤退。この戦争で多くの大名が兵力と財力を失い、豊臣政権が弱まるきっかけになってしまったよ。
