倒幕運動の始まりと重要人物
開国後の混乱した日本で、尊王攘夷（天皇を尊び外国を打ち払う）という考えが広まっていった。最初は薩摩藩と長州藩は対立していたけど、坂本龍馬という土佐藩出身のすごい人物が間に入って、1866年に薩長同盟を結ばせたんだ。
この同盟が倒幕の決定的な力になった！主な登場人物は、薩摩藩の西郷隆盛と大久保利通、長州藩の木戸孝允、そして最後の将軍徳川慶喜だよ。
💡 ポイント：薩長同盟は「もともと仲が悪かった二つの強い藩が手を組んだ」からこそ、幕府にとって脅威だったんだ！
坂本龍馬は薩長同盟の仲立ち以外にも、大政奉還のアイデアを出したとされる超重要人物。テストでよく出るから絶対覚えておこう。
大政奉還から王政復古へ
薩長同盟の武力倒幕の動きを察知した徳川慶喜は、1867年に大政奉還を実行した。これは政権を朝廷（天皇）に返すことで、戦争を避けつつ徳川家が新政治でも主導権を握り続けようという作戦だったんだ。
でも倒幕派はそれを許さなかった！同年12月に王政復古の大号令を出して、天皇中心の政治を宣言し、慶喜の官職と領地を完全に奪ったんだ。
💡 違いをしっかり覚えよう：大政奉還→慶喜が自主的に政権を返した / 王政復古→倒幕派が強制的に徳川家を追い出した
この強硬な手段が旧幕府勢力の怒りを買い、ついに避けられない戦争へと発展していくことになる。
戊辰戦争の展開
1868年から1869年にかけて、新政府軍と旧幕府軍による日本初の本格的な内戦戊辰戦争が勃発した。戦いは鳥羽・伏見の戦いから始まり、新政府軍が勝利を収めた。
新政府軍の強さの秘密は3つ：錦の御旗（天皇の軍という大義名分）、最新式の銃や大砲、そして統一された指揮系統だった。一方、旧幕府軍は兵力は多かったけど、装備が古くて指揮がバラバラだったんだ。
💡 「官軍」vs「賊軍」：錦の御旗を掲げることで、新政府軍は天皇の軍（官軍）、旧幕府軍は反逆者（賊軍）という構図を作り出した！
戦争は江戸城無血開城（西郷隆盛と勝海舟の交渉）、東北での抵抗、最後は北海道の五稜郭での箱館戦争で榎本武揚らが降伏して終結した。
