絶対王政と市民革命の基礎知識
君たちが普段当たり前だと思ってる「自由」や「平等」って、実は昔の人たちが命がけで勝ち取ったものなんだ。16世紀頃から、ヨーロッパでは国王が圧倒的な権力を持つ絶対王政が始まった。
絶対王政では、国王の権力は神様から与えられたものだという王権神授説で正当化されてたんだ。フランスのルイ14世なんかが典型例で、「朕は国家なり」って言葉で有名だよね。経済政策では重商主義を取って、国が貿易をコントロールして金銀をため込もうとしてた。
でも商工業が発達すると、都市に住む裕福な商人や法律家たち（市民階級・ブルジョワジー）が力をつけてきた。彼らは経済力はあるのに政治的な権利がなくて、だんだん不満を溜めていくことになるんだ。
ココがポイント！ 絶対王政は神の権威で支えられてたけど、市民階級の台頭が新しい時代の扉を開くきっかけになったよ
啓蒙思想：革命の理論武装
市民たちが王様に立ち向かうには、ただの不満じゃダメで、しっかりした理論が必要だった。それが啓蒙思想なんだ。理性を使って古い慣習や絶対王政のおかしさを批判する思想で、まさに革命の理論武装になった。
ロック（イギリス）は『統治二論』で、政府が国民の権利を侵害したら抵抗権・革命権があるって主張した。これがアメリカ独立革命に大きな影響を与えたから覚えておこう。モンテスキュー（フランス）は『法の精神』で三権分立を提唱して、現代の憲法の基本になってる。
ルソー（フランス）の『社会契約論』では人民主権を主張した。国家の主役は国王じゃなくて人民だっていう、当時としては革命的な考え方だったんだ。この思想がフランス革命を後押しすることになる。
ココがポイント！ ロック→アメリカ、モンテスキュー→三権分立、ルソー→フランス革命。この組み合わせは絶対にテストに出るから暗記必須！
イギリス革命とアメリカ独立革命
市民革命の先陣を切ったのがイギリスだった。チャールズ1世の専制政治に議会派が反発したピューリタン革命（1642-49）では、なんと国王を処刑して共和政を樹立したんだ。クロムウェルが指導したけど、彼の死後また王政が復活した。
名誉革命（1688）では、ジェームズ2世の専制に対して議会が新しい王を迎えて**「権利の章典」を認めさせた。血がほとんど流れなかったから「名誉」革命って呼ばれるんだ。これで「君臨すれども統治せず」**っていう立憲君主制の基礎ができた。
アメリカ独立革命（1775-1783）は「代表なくして課税なし」がスローガンだった。イギリス本国が植民地に重税をかけたから、植民地側が反発したんだ。独立宣言（1776）はロックの思想をベースにして、「生命、自由、幸福の追求」っていう自然権を明記した。
ココがポイント！ アメリカは世界初の本格的な共和国になって、三権分立を定めた成文憲法を作ったよ。これが後の民主国家のモデルになった
フランス革命の激流
一番ドラマチックで複雑なのがフランス革命（1789-1799）だ。**旧体制（アンシャン=レジーム）**では、第一身分（聖職者）と第二身分（貴族）は免税特権があるのに、人口の大多数を占める第三身分（平民）だけが重税に苦しんでた。超不公平だよね。
財政難で困った国王ルイ16世が三部会を招集したけど、議決方法で対立が起きた。第三身分が国民議会を結成して、民衆がバスティーユ牢獄を襲撃したのが革命の始まりだ。その後、人権宣言で「人間の自由と平等」「国民主権」が宣言された。
でも革命はだんだん激化して、ルイ16世が処刑されちゃう。ロベスピエールの恐怖政治で大量処刑が行われたり、めちゃくちゃ混乱した。最終的にはナポレオンがクーデタで権力を握って革命は終結したんだ。
ココがポイント！ 「自由・平等・友愛」の理念がヨーロッパ中に広まって、近代民主主義の基礎となったのがフランス革命の最大の意義だよ
テスト対策と歴史的意義
この単元でテストによく出るのは、思想家と革命の関連付けだ。ロック→アメリカ（独立宣言）、ルソー→フランス（人権宣言、人民主権）、モンテスキュー→アメリカ（三権分立）の組み合わせは絶対暗記しよう。
重要文献も押さえておこう。イギリスの**「権利の章典」は議会の権利確認、アメリカの独立宣言は自然権と革命権、フランスの人権宣言**は自由・平等と国民主権がポイントだ。それぞれの内容をしっかり区別できるようにしておこう。
注意すべきは、革命を主導した「市民」は主に裕福なブルジョワジーで、貧しい農民や労働者がすぐに政治参加できたわけじゃないってこと。女性の権利もまだ認められてなかった。でもこれらの市民革命を通じて、主権が国王から国民に移って近代市民社会の基礎ができたんだ。
